I am really considering the same type of surgery you had, but I am afraid that I wont recover quickly. I work on my feet, and i am concerned about returning to work. Thank you! I am very happy that I got this procedure done. I dance and I couldn't dance from the surgery date, July - November, I think I tried out for the dance team at my college and I informed them of my surgery and I took it easy. But nothing ever hurt. You could also ask your doctor how long he thinks you should be off your feet.
I've been following your blog for some time anonymously and recently I became a "follower"! I'm sure ppl are anonymously following you and are probably just as grateful as I am! (and after some time, I then also found TJay's blog, both via a google search which is nice! cause my blog doesn't even come up). I had to tell you that you have been extremely helpful! Both before surgery and now! It's great to hear someone has gone through what I am currently dealing with (It's been 8 days!)
What I would like to ask you is 1. Is there a shoe you can recommend for when I am no longer in a surgical shoe? It's winter in NY so I can't wear flip flops :( Also, for shoes, what is the main issue, is it material touching the toe that bothers?
2. At about which week after surgery were you no longer balancing on your heels and could walk with pressure on your toes?
I was thinking of purchasing these fugly ones that are cushioned by fur: )

1. I tried to wear gym shoes, but my feet were too swollen. The shoes I wore were Crocs! They were very comfortable! See if they have any styles for winter! The main issue with shoes with me was swelling.
2. Hmm, It took me a while to actually walk "normal" because I had the pins in and I was so petrified of hitting anything. I want to say august for sure, for maybe end-middle of july?
I think those shoes are great! did you buy them?! Let me know how you are feeling. Have you seen your toes yet? Its amazing this surgery!
Geena, thank you so much for all your responses. I'm doing so much better! The body is amazing and this surgery really is incredible! I finally posted some pics too! I am VERY swollen so I'm happy that my progress is all uphill from here. I'm still wearing easy spirit wide width sneakers, no use in shopping for anything else since they're a temporary purchase. Summer's almost here and soon it'll be flip flops - Ahhh finally!

my feet are horrible. i swear to god, the rest of me is pretty, but whenever i talk to somebody, i feel like the only thing they notice is my feet. it's so unbearable to feel this way. i'm worried about being off of work too long...i own a little business and can't afford to be off of my feet. how long until i could walk again? how much was it for both feet?
Thanks for commenting! That's exactly how I felt about my feet. I felt like everyone noticed only my feet. I was lucky having the procedure in the summer between schools so I could afford being able to relax and make sure everything healed correctly. I want to estimate a couple weeks maybe a good month to walk normally. However, you have to be very careful walking around especially if you own your own business and you're on your feet all day. And my insurance covered the procedure so I am not 100% sure how much it cost. Hope I answered your question!
