I've JUST gotten toe shortening surgery yesterday! I am sooooooo excited!!! can't wait to see what my toes look like. Yours look fabulous by the way! Which doctor did you get it done by? and how long did it take for the swelling to completely wear off?

Congrats on your surgery!!!

My doctor works in Alexian Brothers hospital, Dr. Wolf.

And the swelling honestly did not completely wear off yet. I imagine it will take years too become the normal self. But it has been about seven months since my surgery and they look better every day!!!

Congrats again on your toe shortening surgery! and keep me updated on your day-to-day basis!

That swelling sucks huh? I hate the discomfort of not being able to bend my toes. I've had steroid injections 3 times now. It makes my toes feel soooo good the nextr day or so.
I now love my toes too! And something really really bizarre Geena ... I just got back from Mexico (Cabo) Jan 26 and I took several pictutes of my toes in the sand and ocean. LOL

My toes do not bend the way they used too either. I practice by stretching them out or by doing exercises that strengthens them. They swelled up when I was in Mexico because of the heat. But they bent better there than here in the cold!

I was in ixtapa for a week of the 11th to the 19th! What a coincidence!!!

In the end, are you happy with your toes?

Hope all is well!!

I am happy with them now. I didn't feel uncomfortable letting people see them in Mexico. I would never show them before, always hid them.
My toes were very sore after walking in the sand for an hour, after that I had to wear flip flops in the sand, then my toes didn't bend so much.
The toe that was "flippy" ... one day I noticed it was a bit swollen and not as flippy, then I smacked it on the coffee table and it got stiffer, lol. I don't have to have another surgery on it. So glad about that.
What kind of exercise/stretching do you do? Please share! It might help me too!

I was always uncomfortable showing my feet in flipflops and even pedicures. I never wanted to go get my toes done! but this year i was all out and even with my toe ring... which i never wore before!

My toes were also sore from walking in the sand. they swelled up from the heat especially!

I hope your "floppy" toe gets well soon!
and im glad you do not need another surgery! what did the doctor say about your toe??

My doctor told me to exercise bending my toes by putting a towel on the floor and trying to grab it with my toes.. doing this my toes became very swollen.

Hi Geena I'm planning to have the same surgery.I wonder about your feet after a year.Is there any numbness?and are they still swollen?.Could you please send a photo of your feet?

Hello! I am so happy you found your way to my blog! I do not regret this surgery at all! I adore my new feet! There is no numbness. I went into a checkup with the Doc. about a month ago, he said my toes are still a little swollen but it could be from the weather changes and humidity. The only thing i noticed was that my toes do not bend the way they used too. It sounds worse than it really is. I practice by stretching them out or by doing exercises that strengthens them! I uploaded new photos of my toes! Please keep me updated if you decide to go through with the surgery! I would be happy to hear back from you!

Hi Geena thank you very much for your new photos. They seem really nice.I see that the stich marks seems nearly unnoticed.

I'm planning to have my surgery with a new method called "smart toe".They use instead of wire system. They place the implants and they don't remove them.

I wonder about "the bending problem".What's the reason of it?Does it effect your walking?and this bending issue is permanent?Did you have any walking problems after surgery?... lots of questions:)

Your blog is really very useful for the women who decides to have this kind of operation.Thank you so much...

Hello! I have heard of the new method. you are lucky you will not have needles sticking out of your toes!!

The bending problem sounds worse than it is. my doc said my toes would be able to bend after the surgery. He told me to practice and exercise my toes so they would be able to bend and move properly. I do not know if its my fault for not exercising enough or if its the doctors fault. It does not effect my walking, it doesn't hurt, they just don't bend fully. Today, I do not have any walking problems! I wear flip flops, high heels, gym shoes and nothing bothers me!

Thank you for your questions and please keep in touch!
